Bethany had managed to change from living in the barn, to a small room in the main tower. That Nathaniel had found her at all was ... well, rather amazing.
So she blinked with surprise, as she looked up from the book of spirit magic she was reading, but smiled brightly as she got up to open the door, "Well hello, stranger!"
[ MONTHS AND MONTHS after initially promising he would, Alistair does eventually deliver to Bethany a letter from Grand Enchanter Fiona, wherever she's now been stationed by the Inquisition. The letter details everything she knows about how she was cured of the taint—which is to say, not much, but she does describe the events surrounding it, including:
— that their taint was accelerated by magical objects given to them by the now-deceased First Enchanter Remille, who was cooperating with the Architect;
— the names of all of the Wardens who were there, with notes of their fates—Duncan never showed signs of the accelerated taint at all, possibly due to an enchanted dagger he'd stolen from the First Enchanter, while a dwarf named Utha joined the Architect, and Fiona was the only other Warden who survived the ordeal;
— that she was pregnant but the child was born healthy despite everything; and,
— that she recovered fully after the enchanted trinket that accelerated her taint was removed, so it's possible that the trinket and whole process of accelerating the taint is what cured her, but as she's the only survivor who experienced the taint acceleration anyway and replicating the trinkets or risking prematurely killing Wardens to test the theory was a bad idea, there's no way to tell. ]
[Bethany read the letter. Then she read the letter again. She read it once more, then took out a piece of parchment and began to scribble down notes.]
- Need to find out if anything is left of First Enchanter Remille.
- Need to find studies on how these artifacts increased the speed of blight.
- Needed to know if the magical object sucked the blight right out of Fiona, and how, and find a Warden to test it on? Demon-Warden? Hm.
- Need to find out about that baby.]
[SO. A short time later, Alistair would find a letter on his bunk, written in Bethany's hand, to be delivered back to Fiona. There was also a note that said, You've been around longer than I have - do you know what happened to Fiona's baby?]
[ Wherever she is, Bethany can't escape him. Probably. If she buried her crystal or something she can escape him. But if she didn't, she'll hear her name, sing-song: ] Oh Beeeeethaaaanyyyyyyy.
[There is the faint clatter of what sounds like expensive tea cups - and a 'Bethany, my dear, did your satchel just talk to you?' in a thick, Orlesian accent.
There's a faint strain to her cheerful tone as she answers.] Oh, this must be an emergency - please excuse me, Mama Darton.
[The sound of a chair being pushed back, older women gossiping, and then the sound of a door being closed before Bethany answers in a half-gasp, half-laugh.]
Oh please tell me the Archdemon is attacking so I can leave this tea party?
I've a project, a good one. I want to bring mages together, the non-Loyalist ones, give them a, a network, a support system, because we don't have that. Would you help me?
Well, it's certainly stirred up other questions, yes...but to answer your question first, no. I've felt perfectly fine.
I have noticed a few people have been quite ill, though. Fenris has been quite agitated, and Carver came across a templar the other day with a high fever.
The Inquisition has received a report that you threatened an ally with violence. This behaviour is unacceptable, by those within or without our organization.
The Provost is presently engaged elsewhere. In his absence, I hope that you will speak with me regarding the nature of this incident, that we might understand and respond to it.
Please arrange to arrive at the Gallows at your earliest convenience. Regards,
— Casimir Lyov, Research secretary.

I will be leaving shortly to come and speak to you on this matter, but I want to make it clear that this has nothing to do with the Wardens whatsoever. The slight was personal, and my reaction to said slight was personal in turn. I was not acting from a place of authority within the Warden organization, therefore whatever sanctions are put on me should not affect them.
Oi, Bethany. Next time you're trying to hit someone, deactivate your crystal first so everyone can't hear it. And don't cause any scenes in Hightown, or we might all be thrown out of everywhere.
Carver mentioned that a certain elderly mabari might appreciate some attention from one of his kind. Whenever you'd like, Garahel and I can pay him -and you, of course- a visit.
What in the name of the Maker are you - OH. [There's a pause, before Bethany states somewhat sheepishly.] ... I was rather more thinking about Divine Renata. You know, the Divine who ordered the Exalted March on the Dales. I honestly didn't even think about you or Loghain.
